UNC’s still trolling FSU about that game-winning kick in Tallahassee

Nick Weiler runs a tight ship for the Heels whether he’s on the team or not.

North Carolina has beefed up security in Chapel Hill with a new system designed for orderly entry into the facility. Coach Larry Fedora has found a way to use former kicker Nick Weiler in an interesting graduate assistant role.

If you don’t remember Weiler, he’s the North Carolina kicker who had the world’s most aggressive Tomahawk Chop after beating Florida State with a 54 yard field goal as time expired.

Weiler has continued to milk this moment for all its worth in the best way possible. A look at his Twitter account shows this as his pinned tweet from back in October.

Former North Carolina QB and now NFL prospect Mitch Trubisky penned a letter to Carolina fans on The Player’s Tribune, and he opened it with an ode to Weiler.

“I love you no matter what, man.”

Those were the last words I said to Nick Weiler, our kicker, before he trotted out for his game-winning, 54-yard field goal against Florida State earlier this season. We all believed in Nick, and not just because he had been kicking beauties all year. He’s a great teammate. Whenever I threw a bad pick or made a mistake this season, he was always one of the first people to have my back.

It’s nice to see Weiler still hanging around the program, helping the Tar Heels continue to rub in a big win over a conference opponent.
